Pelican Shot from a Cannon

Living in the landlocked state of Arkansas smack in the middle of the United States, visiting the beach is a big treat for us.

I love watching pelicans dive into the water.  How do they do that?

When we were visiting Fort Gaines on Dauphin Island, a couple were flying nearby, so out comes the camera.

I am snapping photos as quickly as I can.  Aren't they beautiful?

This particular picture made me laugh out loud.  Is it just me or does that pelican look as if it might have been shot from the cannon?  (I guess it wouldn't be as pretty though)

It wasn't of course.  Here they are past the cannon.

One more funny camera angle of the pelicans.  They appear to be arm in arm {wing in wing?}  If you would like to see other posts about this year's trip to Alabama, here are some links.

Where do you like to vacation?

  1. My boys and I had great fun watching the pelicans in Florida; we thought it was hysterical that they are such graceful flyers and pretty much look like they crash land in the water each and every time.

  3. It definitely looks like it was shot from a cannon. They're such graceful creatures.

  4. You took some very nice shots of the pelicans as they gracefully fly through the air. That last shot does seem like they 'wing in wing'.
