Vegan Crackers

Thanks to The Vegetarian Mother's Cookbook, I've discovered this wonderful recipe for vegan crackers.  Perfect for my goals in 2013.

The recipe calls for specific seeds, but you know me.  I just used what I had on hand.  I used equal parts:  lentils, broccoli and mung bean seeds for sprouting, pinto beans, hulled sunflower seeds and a four grain oatmeal.

Cover the seeds with water and let soak overnight in the fridge, so the seeds are softened.  The recipe doesn't mention herbs, but I have a couple of greenhouses.  So some herbs were snipped from them.

I chose garlic, sage, thyme and rosemary.

I used my food processor to pure' the softened seeds along with the herbs.

Next, the pure' is scooped onto a cookie sheet and given a generous sprinkle of sea salt.

They are baked in a 200 degree oven until dehydrated.  Happy, healthful snacking thanks to The Vegetarian Mother's Cookbook!
I hope you reach all your goals for 2013!  ;-)  -Marci

Tuesday Tunes, Teddy Bear

Tuesday Tunes is a great linky party where you share a song or two!  'Pretty fun, huh?  I think so!  There are so many types of music I enjoy, sometimes it's hard for me to choose just one.

This week one of my sisters is celebrating her birthday.  She loves Elvis!
(BTW, I'm the baby in this picture.)

In her honor, I am linking an Elvis song.  I like him, too!
This is a fun one for dancing, don't ya think?

Easter Basket

Easter is just around the corner.  Would you like to see my idea for baskets this year?

The Pattern is from Anna at Noodlehead .  I love, LOVE, LOVE this pattern, especially the nice big pockets across the front.

You might remember some of the fabric from my post about the Bassinet .  I thought it would be nice to have a functional basket after the holiday to organize socks or maybe hair bows.  Won't it be cute setting on her dresser?

Here's a picture of the back and how it would look without the pocket.

And, here it is, loaded for Easter.  Do you think she'll like it?

I don't consider myself an artist, but doodling is something I enjoy. These books caught my eye on Crafter's Choice . There is lots of info, but basically, these books taught me to doodle.  And then, doodle my doodles. How fun!

Being Thankful...

Many of you read about our  Exciting News and then our Horrible Day .
There was a moment when I was staring out our dining room window crying, when my Handsome Husband suggested I write Thank You notes.  He is a wise man.
Expressing gratitude during this difficult time has been a healing balm.
God has sent angel after angel with just the needed item at just the right time. On several occasions, the angel was someone we had never met. While Thank You notes have been written, they just don't seem like quite enough.
Thank you to everyone who has prayed for our family.  Thank you to the ones who have donated items or money.  Thank you for calling just to check on us and to say "I love you".  Thank you most of all to the ones who have hugged those precious children.  We are truly grateful.
Thank you!  ;-)  -Marci

There is also LOTS of dill in the greenhouse!

 photo 3dbb4d69-3c01-44fc-94a9-1d60b85089fa_zps99992830.jpg
Deviled Eggs are a great way to use both eggs and dill!

A nice big handful of Dill
6 Hard Boiled Eggs
1/2 cup mayonnaise
1/4 cup sweet relish
1 teaspoon spicy mustard

The dill needs to be finely chopped, but save a little for garnish. I use a slap chopper thing from Pampered Chef.  Cut the eggs in half and pop the yolks into a bowl.  Mash and stir the yolks with the rest of the ingredients.  Scoop the yolk mixture back into the egg whites and garnish.

We love these on weekends!  They are a great side dish or snack!

Weekend Meet & Greet #17

Welcome back to Meet & Greet Blog Hop!  Join in, meet some fellow bloggers, greet them with comments, and grow your blog with new friends!

Interested in being a Co-Host?

Send an email to 2justByou(at)gmail(dot)com with "Co-Host" in the subject line for consideration!

Meet Everyone!  This week’s fun question is: If you had to change your first name, what would you change it to?
Kim - from 2 just B you: I don't think I'd change my name. If I was forced to, like for the witness protection program or something, then I'd change it to something common. Common names are easy to remember.
Laurie - from Created By Laurie: I have always liked the sound of names that end with a “n”. I love the name Katelyn for a girl, which I would probably take if I had to change.
*Co Host*
Marci – from Stone Cottage Adventures: This question makes me laugh! I am the youngest child of six. Here are our names *in order* from oldest to youngest: Sharon, Steve, Karen, Mike, Laura and (me) Marcelle. So, I mean like, which of these things doesn't belong here? Oh, yeah... That would be Marcelle. I've kidded our parents about it many times. I'm convinced my name is actually Sarah. Sharon, Karen, Laura, Sarah. That's better! ;-)
*Featured Guest*
Carissa– from Lillies and Silk: I would change my name to Addison.
If you had to change your first name, what would you change it to?

Horrible Day

Last week our daughter's gorgeous little girl was born.  What joy!  On Monday she saw her doctor who confirmed what we already knew.  Our beautiful granddaughter is perfect!

Well, this week has been horrible.  Thankfully, no one was injured.  Our daughter's home was destroyed by fire.  We are so grateful everyone is OK.  Recovered items have been minimal.

The family consists of my daughter and her husband, their six year old son, 18 month old daughter and one week old baby girl.  We keep kissing and hugging those children, glad they are healthy and spunky.

No one was hurt.  We can deal with the rest, but these are tough times.  Will you please pray for our family?
