Our news this week...  A couple of Saturdays ago, I attended a greeting card workshop with friends, Erika and Rochelle.  We spent a lovely afternoon with kindred card-makers all wielding scissors, glue sticks, and glitter.  One participant brought pressed flowers and was happy to share her stash!  Coming home inspired, envelopes and more bits of mail have been decorated.  In this strange time of social distance, my little creations have been hopping in the mailbox to, hopefully, bring a smile to someone dear.  Will you please tell me how you've been keeping in touch with your loved ones?

Tuesdays with a Twist Link Party #359

Our news this week...  So, something cool happened.  I haven't run in a timed 5k since around 2003, but have been back into distance running for quite a while.  My daughter has asked me to run a half marathon with her this Autumn, so training is happening now since my hip is still somewhat of a struggle even after surgery.  (If you are curious about my comeback, look for posts titled "Fitness After 50)  I registered for a 5k on Leap Day, but almost chickened out on the way there.  It was a very positive experience with all the participants encouraging anyone near them.  I did my best and did not need to walk, even though a couple of hills felt pretty difficult.  My time wasn't great and I left after having a bottle of water.  Here's the cool thing.  A couple of days after the race, the organizer called to say she had a medal for me because I got THIRD PLACE in my age division!  No one was more surprised than me!

The lesson?  Be brave.  Go to your race.  A lovely surprise may be waiting for you!
