Summer will Fluttter By - Inter Changeable Wreath

It's been a while since I used my Inter Changeable Wreath.  Oh, how I love whipping up something new with it!  ;-)

My front door was begging for a Summertime Something!

Out came the Inter Changeable Wreath.  This ribbon was left from another incarnation and I think it suits my plan this time, too!  Do you remember the Poinsettia Wreath?

The flowers and leaves are being recycled, but the candy canes need to go.

Using hot glue, eyelet lace covered the candy turning Winter a bit more Summer!

Using T-Pins I begin assembling the wreath.

(Looking at that leaf, I just had a NEW idea poof into my head for the Inter Changeable Wreath!
S W E E T ! !)

I sort of just mess with arranging the flowers until I like it.  Then the Doodled Butterfly is added across from them.  I love how the curvature of the gourd gently hugs my wreath.

Before we know it, Summer will have fluttered into Autumn!  If you are curious about other wreaths I've made, you might enjoy my CRAFTS PAGE!

How is your family enjoying Summer?

Baby Announcement!

Babies with feathers, that is!  ;-)

Aren't they  C U T E ? !

We have six new chicks.

For now, they are living in the greenhouse,

in hopes of getting them really tame before they go to the big coop.

Little by little, we are getting closer

and they are becoming calmer.

New babies are so much fun,

This time, they have been named after authors instead of flowers.  We are calling them Agatha, Beatrix, Beulah, Carolyn, Dodie and Eleanor.

I just had to share the joyous occasion with you!

What exciting things are happening at your house?

Book Review: Size 12 is Not Fat

by Meg Cabot
Partial Synopsis from Meg Cabot:  HEATHER WELLS ROCKS!  Or, at least, she did. That was before she left the pop-idol life behind after she gained a dress size or two—and lost a boyfriend, a recording contract, and her life savings (when Mom took the money and ran off to Argentina). Now that the glamour and glory days of endless mall appearances are in the past, Heather's perfectly happy with her new size 12 shape (the average for the American woman!) and her new job as an assistant dorm director at one of New York's top colleges. That is, until the dead body of a female student from Heather's residence hall is discovered at the bottom of an elevator shaft.
My Thoughts:  The beginning seemed a bit slow to me, but the story picks up pace as you go along.  I'm glad I stuck with it, really enjoying the end.  The book is pretty light-hearted and perhaps a little too young for me.  This is the first book in a series about Heather Wells.  I don't plan to continue with the series.  It is well written, but not really for me.
What are you reading?

Rootin' For the Home Team

 My Latest Gourd Project

Do you remember how our new puppy, SADI BEAR, chewed one of my gourds?  So, it became THIS !

Well, guess what she did again?

Yep!  Chewed the handle right off another one.  This time though, I looked for what it could become.  Do you see what I see?

In all fairness, you may not see it unless you are from Arkansas

or a big fan of the Southeast Conference.

I cut the bottom so it would sit flat and painted the inside black.

The team color came next using leather dye.

This wine cork is a perfect solution for the snout!  I made sure to choose one from an Arkansas winery!  ;-)

A couple of wiggly eyes were glued in place.

Notice how the natural ridges in the gourd actually create an eyebrow on this side!

This is my favorite side, even though Sadi Bear broke part of it.

I feel like this project was totally home grown.  The gourd was from my garden and the wine cork was from an Arkansas winery.

With a little leather dye and my crazy creativity, we are ready to Root for the Home Team!

Who is your favorite team?

FGNS Garden Tour, June 2015 {Part Two}

The Flower, Garden and Nature Society of Northwest Arkansas hosts wonderful garden tours every June.  This year's site choices were excellent, as always!

Here are MORE of my favorite photos.  I hope you enjoy them!

This sweet gal is one of my childhood friends I hadn't seen in  Y E A R S.  We ran into each other at one of the tour gardens.  What a treat!

How funny are these little signs?!  They were actually in two different gardens!

Suddenly, I need to paint a ladybug rock!
