Tuesdays with a Twist Link Party

Our News This Week...  It was a very grand weekend.  My daughter invited me to the annual Fin and Feather Fall Festival at the edge of Lake Tenkiller in Oklahoma.  Her adorable daughters came with us.  She is such a clever mom.  They were given $10 to spend, but she gave it to them $5 at a time.  That really helped the little sweethearts stretch their spending.  Several booths had $1 items for the kiddos.  We ate funnel cakes and drank lemonade, and had a wonderful time!  As we were on our way back to the car, a little voice mentioned it had been a long time since she had stayed at my house.  Another darling voice said, "Me, too."  So, guess who came home with me?  More junk food, more crafts, and plenty of sweet memories.  Photos coming soon!  ;-)

A Barn and Some Hay

My full time job (besides blogging) has me on the road quite a bit these days, regularly buzzing around four different counties here in Arkansas.  I am so very blessed to live in a beautiful area.  When something catches my eye and makes me smile, I snap a photo with my phone.  Do you mind if I share?  ;-)

For this shot, it's right behind the store at the corner of Highway 23 and Highway 12 between Eureka Springs and Clifty.

Where have you been lately?  What did you see?

Book Review: The Art of Mending

by Elizabeth Berg

128289

A partial synopsis from Good Reads:  It begins with the sudden revelation of astonishing secrets—secrets that have shaped the personalities and fates of three siblings, and now threaten to tear them apart. In renowned author Elizabeth Berg’s moving new novel, unearthed truths force one seemingly ordinary family to reexamine their disparate lives and to ask themselves: Is it too late to mend the hurts of the past?

My thoughts:  Three siblings raised in the same home by the same parents have very different personalities along with varying memories of their childhood.  Laura and Steve are overwhelmed as Caroline asks them to recall specific events as she reveals her perspective.  When an aunt trusts Laura with a family secret, she begins to understand what Caroline is trying to tell them.  I found the story very interesting, but not one of my favorites.  For me, the book was OK, but not great.

What have you been reading?

Tuesdays with a Twist #229

Our News This Week...  Lots of activities around our house these days.  Handsome Husband has been cleaning the vegetable garden for Fall.  I painted the front door.  Photos coming soon, hopefully.  For some reason, my writing for the blog has been in a bit of a funk.  'Not sure why.  I have plenty of project photos to show you, I just don't feel like writing or editing pix right now.  'Hoping that will go away soon!  ;-)

'Ready to Party? Tuesdays with a Twist

Our News This Week...  We had a quiet, relaxing Labor Day.  It was really nice to celebrate American workers by resting!  ;-)  Handsome Husband is pretty talented at smoking meats.  He made pulled pork, chicken and ribs.  Mmmmmm...  I stirred up some sides.  Our meals are set for the week!

Garden Guest: Wren

The north side of our front yard is a certified  National Wildlife Federation Backyard Habitat.  Really!  We have a certificate!  You can do the same by providing food, water, cover and places for wildlife to raise their young.  It is so much fun to see all of the critters that stop by for a visit.  I have a series of posts to show you our Garden Guests.  If you would like to see more posts like this one, please hop over to my Garden Page.

How pretty is this little parent?  They've raised three clutches of eggs so far,
