You're the Star Blog Hop - March - Week 4

WELCOME!

Before we continue onto the Linky party I wanted to share something my cousin posted on Facebook:  This war on the coronavirus reminds me of yet another time - WWII. Food was rationed, sugar, coffee and other things. You could only purchase shoes, one pair a year. But, Americans were wonderfully patriotic during that time, willing to do anything to help. Scrap metal was gathered up to use in the war. Little booklets were given out by the government in which we would place stamps we purchased for a dime. The booklets would be redeemed after the war at an increased value, as I recall. And, during that time, into our community came a lady who was going to teach the adults how to make mattresses and coverlets for the soldier boys. Making a mattress was no small chore. Well, the lady happened to assign two families to work together who had not spoken to each other in years. When she was informed of what she had done, she simply said, "By the time they get that mattress made, they will be speaking." Yes, it was a time to put away differences. Although times were hard, I recall with pride the sacrifices our friends and neighbors made to win that war. If we are called upon, may we prove to be as honorable.
