Garden Guest: Swallowtail on Calibrachoa

The north side of our front yard is a certified  National Wildlife Federation Backyard Habitat.  Really!  We have a certificate!  You can do the same by providing food, water, cover and places for wildlife to raise their young.  It is so much fun to see all of the critters that stop by for a visit.  Children love it!

I have a series of posts to show you our Garden Guests.  If you would like to see more posts like this one, please hop over to my Garden Page.

How pretty is this Swallowtail against my hanging baskets of calibrachoa?!

There is more than one species of Swallowtail that can be black and, frankly, I get them confused.  Which one do you think this one is?

What's happening in your back yard?

  1. Hello, lovely flowers and beautiful captures of the butterflies. Thank you for linking up and sharing your post. Happy Saturday, enjoy your weekend.

  2. I can never tell which one I'm seeing but I'm sure someone will ID it today! Lovely photos...nice way to start my day!

  3. So pretty! I get excited when a Monarch butterfly shows up in my yard!

  4. How wonderful that your yard is NWF habitat. I do my best with my postage stamp backyard! Gorgeous flowers and butterfly.

  5. Your flowers are beautiful. I love working in my yard, I'll have to check out how to get certified. I have a lot of yard that could use beautiful flowers and bushes. Thanks for sharing on Sunday's Best.
