Dusting of Snow

We recently had a little unexpected snow.  Here are some things that caught my eye.

A leaf rake.
A pile of wood.
A field with some puddles.
The cactus really caught my attention.  I would love to know what kind they are.

Stay warm!  Share joy!

  1. That would be a Prickly Pear Cactus and the red fruit provides many with jelly. It does look out-of-place with a dusting of snow. A little embarrassed in hindsight, but I used to take a pick axe and "murder" these succulents on our 40-acre Colorado ranch. I didn't like my horses brushing against them and being the recipient of the cactus spine when cleaning hooves.

  2. Thank you for the ID! Prickly Pear Cactus Jelly. Hmmm... Do you have a recipe? I would love to try it. The fruit is a beautiful wine color. I bet the jelly would be gorgeous!
