DIY Pocket Bunting

This just might be the quickest little project I've completed in a long time.  Since this is a challenge for Earth Day, everything is recycled from something else.

My "pinspiration" comes from Easy Bunting from Denim Pockets post at DIY Beautify.  Cindy's darling little banner stays true to all denim pockets.

When I went digging thru the jeans in my fabric stash, there was a pair of khaki workpants.  Both hip pockets were snipped, keeping the hammer loop that was on one of them.  I also cut out the small pocket on the side that holds pens.  Then a pair of jeans lost both its pockets.  The "ribbon" is actually the hem cut from a flannel sheet when I was sewing these Un-Paper Towels.  Clothes pins were pulled from my craft room in three different sizes to hold everything in place.

Now for the fun part...  Filling those pockets!

The bunnies were swiped from THIS DeStash Challenge and THAT SEWING PROJECT.

That scrap of coral bandana is left over from THIS COLLABORATION.

All the flowers were pulled from THIS WREATH, yes even the paper roses!

I love that little hammer loop!

So, one more time.  Here are the empty pockets.

And here is the DIY Pocket Bunting filled and ready for Spring.

How would you fill the pockets?

Let's see what the other challenge participants have created for Earth Day!

  2. Oh, how I love this idea! I can imagine making this for Christmas, rather than stocking, and filled with candy, mini treats or little toys. This would even be cute for birthdays, hung on the bedpost, filled with little surprises - the ideas are endless - very clever!

  4. Great idea to make a pocket bunting! Would be so easy to change out what's inside or pin a different brooch to the front for any time of year.
