Garden Guest: All Natural Insect Control

The north side of our front yard is a certified  National Wildlife Federation Backyard Habitat.  Really!  We have a certificate!  You can do the same by providing food, water, cover and places for wildlife to raise their young.  It is so much fun to see all of the critters that stop by for a visit.  Children love it!

I have a series of posts to show you our Garden Guests.  If you would like to see more posts like this one, please hop over to my Garden Page.

Do you remember my post in June about the little wrens who build their nest in our old milk barn?  Click HERE if you would like to see it.  We use the building like it's a shop these days.

One evening, Handsome Husband was revitalizing our busted park bench and I had the camera out there.  As the parents were buzzing back and forth feeding their sweet babies, a few photos were snapped.

I have to wonder how many insects are removed from our garden each day?  Talk about All Natural Insect Control!

What's happening in your back yard?

  1. I just love little wrens! We had a nest in the fern on our patio earlier this summer. About three weeks ago, I could tell by the mom's behavior that she was trying to coax the little birds out. I sat my chair next to the window and watched for an hour and a half. Finally, three little fluffed up birds popped out of the nest and took off! It made us all smile to actually witness this. In all our years of having wrens on the patio - we've never seen the launch!

I would love to get the Wildlife Federation certificate for our place. Thanks for reminding me. ;)
