One More Easter Basket

Here's another Handmade Easter Basket!  You might remember I don't care for those cheap-o baskets stuffed with lots of plastic grass.  Blech!  Call me crazy, but I think the basket should be something useful year round!  Click HERE to see last year's idea!  Click HERE to see another one from 2015!  And you can click HERE to see one for a Sports Fan!

What do you think?

THIS CLASS taught me how to sew French Seams by making a pillow case.  I've been pretty obsessed with pillow case sewing ever since!  They are such a quick, easy project.

The dark pink fabric was purchased long ago in a quilting store.  I love the swishy splashes of color!  The green and pink flowers were chosen in a completely different quilting shop last summer.  I am so ready for Spring colors!

Books were placed in the bottom to give the pillow case some structure.  We *LOVE* books around here, so they are frequent gifts.  Somewhat carefully, the rest of the presents were stacked on top of that.  This year, the loot includes a couple of dresses for church, sandals, an egg coloring kit, construction paper, colored pencils and, of course, candy!

Once all the stash was loaded, a bit of ribbon tied off the top and the band was folded over it!  Each child is receiving two handmade pillow cases.  One has a pillow inside, while the other has Easter gifts.

I have a tutorial on sewing these fun pillow cases coming soon.  I should probably add a warning label to it.  Sewing Pillow Cases Can Be Addictive, but is not hazardous to anyone's health!  ;-)

I hope you and your loved ones have a very blessed Easter this year!

  2. The tooth fairy collects your teeth from under your pillow so guess it makes sense that the Easter bunny leaves candy IN your pillow!
