The north side of our front yard is a certified National Wildlife Federation Backyard Habitat. Really! We have a certificate! You can do the same by providing food, water, cover and places for wildlife to raise their young. It is so much fun to see all of the critters that stop by for a visit. I've begun a new series of posts to show you our Garden Guests.

They definitely brighten a cold winter day!
How 'bout some bloggin' music? Leon Redbone and Zooey Deschanel singing "Baby, It's Cold Outside".
Warm wishes from our home to yours!

Take a look at these House finches. You can see they are eating sunflower seeds from a tube feeder. The redder ones are the males. Aren't they pretty?

That is fun! How fortunate and I bet it's great to watch them.
ReplyDeleteThank you for linking to Super Sunday Sync!
Now I'm going to be singing "Baby It's Cold Outside" for the rest of the night! I love that you have so much fun wildlife right outside your door. Lucky you. My grandma used to have bird feeders, and we could look out the kitchen window and see all the pretty birds come and visit. Lots of the time, like today, your posts remind me of her place. =0)
ReplyDeleteI love seeing the purple finches in winter almost as much as I love the yellow ones in summer. I have a feeling we are about to get really cold!
ReplyDeleteHi Marci,
ReplyDeleteJust found your blog through the Great Train Blog Hop. Love the finches...they sure do brighten a winter day.
:)
That is so neat that you have such wildlife close to hand. We don't see much in the way of wildlife at my apartment, I'm jealous. Thanks for linking up to Snickerdoodle Sunday.
ReplyDeleteOh, I love house finches! They are so beautiful.
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful finches! We have green finches and gold finches here in Scotland, I love watching them on our feeders!
ReplyDeleteNow following your fab blog!

The house finch is as steadfast in the winter as the chick-a-dee. They are there to brighten our day no matter what the temperature is. I miss being able to see them here in Florida.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing,
Bev

I enjoyed my goldfinches in the summer so I can imagine how much you are enjoying yours and the red ones are so pretty! :)
ReplyDeleteWe have lots of finches in the summer and I love watching them at the bird feeder! I miss all the birds this time of year. My favorite are wrens. We don't have near the variety in the winter. Thank you for sharing on the Four Seasons Blog Hop!
