Garden Guest: House Finches in Snow

The north side of our front yard is a certified  National Wildlife Federation Backyard Habitat.  Really!  We have a certificate!  You can do the same by providing food, water, cover and places for wildlife to raise their young.  It is so much fun to see all of the critters that stop by for a visit.  I've begun a new series of posts to show you our Garden Guests.

If you would like to see more, check my Gardening Page!

This lovely couple is a pair of House Finches on a very snowy day.  The female is more brown, while the male has red on his head, throat and breast.  You can see they are enjoying black oil sunflower seeds from a tube feeder.  Aren't they gorgeous?

Moving on to some blogging music...

  1. What a beautiful picture of the finches, Marci. Sometimes we get finches here, too, but different types... mainly redheads.

  7. Beautiful picture of Finch. I so enjoy feeding the birds. I hope with the extreme cold a lot of people are having this time of year that people remember to feed the birds. Thank you for sharing with the Clever Chicks Blog Hop! I hope you’ll join us again next week!
