Travels with Marci at Black Mesa Park

The Oklahoma Panhandle is beautiful!

Visiting our son in Colorado each September has become one of our annual treks.  The quickest drive from Arkansas to Denver is thru Kansas.  (I've posted about lovely stops in Kansas before and taken maybe a gazillion or so photos of windmills.)  This trip, we decided to see new things and meet new people.  Our plan was to take Hwy 412 thru Oklahoma into New Mexico, and then Hwy 25 to Denver.

That route is about three hours longer than the one thru Kansas, but isn't this spot pretty?

I'm not sure where Black Mesa Park begins or ends, but my patient Handsome Husband stopped the car for a while so I could snap some photos.  (Poor guy is married to one of those cuckoo blogger types!  LOL!)

The color of the dirt is just gorgeous!  I love how it contrasts with the grasses and sky.

Don't those looming storm clouds make a stunning backdrop?

There's no telling how many times I said, "This looks like something from a Western!"  That beautiful terrain was definitely worth the drive.

Where have you been lately?

  1. This is beautiful! I've never been to Colorado but I would be very tempted to go this way.
