Welcome to the September Pinterest Challenge Blog Hop, hosted by My Pinterventures.
The purpose of this Pinterest Challenge is to motivate all the participants of this hop (and you too) to not just pin, but to make it happen!
I've started treating my pinterest board kind of like a bucket list. ;-) Please tell me I'm not the only one! Since the majority of my pins are on my "Yummy" board, I chose not one, but two, recipes for this month's challenge!
Let's begin with Gail's Chocolate Covered Strawberries. Mmmmmm... Is there anything more decadent?
I followed Gail's detailed instructions quite easily. She uses a lovely drizzle at the end, but I went with gold sprinkles instead. It added a tiny bit of shimmer.
No chocolate was wasted on this particular afternoon. When I ran out of strawberries, a few pretzel rods took their place. Who wastes chocolate? Not this girl! I just poured and swirled what was left over the pretzels. They should have been separated before cooling, but even crumbled, we enjoyed the salty sweet combination.
Now, let's talk about Pamela's Hummingbird Cake for 2. Being empty nesters these days, it's really nice to find a smaller sized recipe. I made just a few changes. Two on purpose, one on accident. Since I don't have a 6 inch round cake pan, I used a square one, so my cake doesn't have the pretty layers. We REALLY like pineapple, so some rings were added to the bottom and the batter was poured on top. The pecans in the batter were completely forgotten. OOPS! That mistake led me to be very generous with pecans on top. Did I mention Pamela includes her recipe for Cream Cheese Frosting?
Both recipes will become regulars for our decadent, delicious desserts!
