DIY Envelopes - Pinterest Challenge

I am so excited about this post, as it is my first time to participate with this amazing group of bloggers!  The purpose of the Pinterest Challenge is to motivate all the participants of this hop (and you, too) to not just pin, but to make it happen!

Welcome to the March Pinterest Challenge Blog Hop, hosted by My Pinterventures.

So this month, I chose to make DIY Envelopes inspired by THIS PIN from Craftify My Love.  She does the math for fractions and everything!  ;-)  Wow!

Anyone who can do math for fractions seriously impresses me!

DIY Envelopes

I really enjoy dreaming up greeting card designs for the sweet people in our lives.  It frustrates me though to be held hostage by whatever standard size envelope is available.  I am so excited to make envelopes that coordinate in both size and paper.

Back View - Addresses are on the front ;-)
While I'd love to tell you that I did all the math and used a ruler along with some scissors, that isn't exactly the truth.  There's that thing where I am super lazy busy, so I went looking for a template.

This simple one for square cards worked perfectly for my idea.  It did take a little time to size it from the download.  Using the full page software on my DIY cutting machine, all around the edges of the envelope template I added eggs, bunnies, butterflies and sheep.  Next, pastel color scrapbook paper was fed thru my DIY cutting machine.

Here are my free style cards.  They began with a four inch square of off white card stock.  I let the shapes drift over the edges just a little as they were glued, and then any card stock that was visible from the front was trimmed.  A note was handwritten on the back.

The little cards hopped inside  (see what I did there?  haha!)  and the flaps were folded.  Next an Easter shape was glued onto the back to hold the envelope closed.

White address labels are on the front with friends' addresses.  Our post office had the prettiest spring floral postage stamps.  'Perfect for these colorful envelopes!

Bonus Pin:  The chicken wire back drop was inspired by  THIS PIN  from  Of Faeries & Fauna.

  14. Beautiful! And I am with you, anytime I have to do math should be only countered by getting served alcohol as a treat. Seeing how pretty yours are is making me want to investigate if I could make my own.
