Raised Garden Bed from Greenland Gardener

It's been a while since I've posted any garden updates.  With all the rain in our area this year, the plants look pretty pitiful.

We are trying a raised bed from Greenland Gardener.  The above photo shows what came in our box for the 8 inch half bed measuring 22" by 42".  It's this one on their site.

When we finally got a break in the rain, I tackled this project.  The corner brackets are seriously cool.

Handsome Husband had to work late this particular evening, but it was not a problem for me to assemble by myself.  It slides together easily.  First a layer of rabbit manure was shoveled into the raised bed.  (We love our bunnies and what cleaning their house does for our garden!)  Then I filled it the rest of the way with garden soil.

Let's pretend what was planted is big and beautiful!

I'm planting garlic and scallions in my box to protect them from Handsome Husband when he is being wild with the tiller.  ;-)

What would you plant in your raised bed?

  1. I love your garden and don't laugh but I could probably grow the flowers you have planted there LOL:) I do not have a green thumb unfortunately but have dreams of herb gardens and flowers including a beautiful rose garden. We live in an apartment but I can still dream can't I? Have a great week!

  2. Hi Marci, My husband made some raised beds for me a couple years ago and I love them. I have to admit I have planted them yet this year. I have an upcoming trip and will be planting some vegies when I get back. Enjoy yours and let us know what you plant! Teresa

  3. Don't you love those that are easy to assemble? Ours certainly weren't that way. Every year we always plant tomatoes & okra in ours. I have planted beans in the past. My faves were chard, which something ate down to the ground (and we never got any), and arugula, which was delish. Right now we're also growing a butternut squash that came up as a volunteer, but it needs lots of space. It'll be interesting to see how those taste when they're mature.

  5. These look super easy to put together and low maintenance. I have created several brick ones and these look much less labour intensive.

  6. Great raised beds! I love using raised beds and we have several of them... they are so helpful and last for several years even when just regular wood. :)

  7. I had two similar raised garden beds back in California and they worked great! We grew tomatoes, beans, canteloupe, lettuce and carrots, as well as various birdseed planted by the feathered friends who liked to go eat bugs out of the raised garden! :)

Looks great and I know you'll have yummy plants growing in there soon,
    Barb :)

  14. We just moved away from my wonderful raised beds :( I'll just have to add new ones to Hubby's never-ending list of projects for the new house! I loved growing potatoes in them, they were super easy to grow & harvest. <3
