Ours certainly weren't that way. Every year we always plant tomatoes & okra in ours. I have planted beans in the past. My faves were chard, which something ate down to the ground (and we never got any), and arugula, which was delish. Right now we're also growing a butternut squash that came up as a volunteer, but it needs lots of space.
