Garden Guest: Mexican Jay

The north side of our front yard is a certified  National Wildlife Federation Backyard Habitat.  Really!  We have a certificate!  You can do the same by providing food, water, cover and places for wildlife to raise their young.  It is so much fun to see all of the critters that stop by for a visit.  I have a series of posts to show you our Garden Guests.

If you would like to see more, check my Gardening Page!

These are my photos, but this is not our back yard!  ;-)

Garden of the Gods was one our stops during our vacation in Colorado.

While, I'm certainly no expert on birds in Colorado, a little research has led me to believe this lovely is a Mexican Jay.  If that's incorrect, please feel free to let me know!

Similar in size to the Blue Jay we see here in Arkansas.  (Click HERE to see my photos of our local guy!)  ;-)

We only noticed the Mexican Jay in Garden of the Gods.  I'd love to hear from anyone who can tell us more about them!

Ya'll know how I like to add blogging music to my Garden Guest posts.  We ate lunch at Boulder's First Craft Brewery on one our vacation days.  The food and service was great!  If you are anywhere near Boulder, we definitely recommend it!  Our waitress was a total sweetheart from Mississippi and immediately picked up on our accent.  They played a lot of Steely Dan music the day we were there.  So, here is Steely Dan with a Bill Cosby intro.  Reelin in the Years.

What's happening in your back yard?
