Ten Steps to Hosting a Stress Free Baby Shower

Baby showers are so much fun, but hosting one can feel a little daunting!  While they can be a lot of work, it is so worth the happiness of getting everyone together and celebrating the pending arrival of a darling new addition!

We recently hosted a shower in our home and had such a great time.  This gorgeous Mommy-to-be has been our neighbor since was three!  She doesn't remember not having us in her life.  The very second they told us of the amazing little miracle on the way, I offered to host her shower.

Here are my thoughts on how to plan a stress free party!

1.  Ask Guest of Honor for any preferences, dislikes or restrictions and choose date

2. Discuss Baby Registry with Mommy-to-Be to have an understanding of what she likes

3.  Choose theme or color scheme

4.  Request invitation list to get a feel for the numbers

5.  Consider location and where to photograph guests

6.  Plan menu and create list for food as well as needed table ware

7.  Choose decor, considering time needed for crafting ;-) and create list

8.  Prepare and send invitations via electronics, snail mail or both

9.  Cook or order menu

10.  Final Set Up

Please come back for more baby shower posts.  I'm writing tutorials for the the centerpieces and garland I made, along with editing photos of the food and drink tables!  Whew!  I can hardly wait to show you!

What's your favorite thing about baby showers?  How do you like to plan them?

;-)  -Marci

  1. I love the punch! LOL- I only ever see punch at wedding or baby showers.
I cant wait to see all your party decorations for the shower.

  2. How lovely of you to host the baby shower for the young girl next door. I bet she was made up x

  3. I'd love to plan and decorate for a baby shower...not for myself though ;) but I bet you had so much fun. All the tips are really helpful and great! Thank you for sharing them at Sweet Inspiration!! Have a great weekend!

  4. I'm looking forward to seeing more posts about your shower because I'm hoping to find a "good example" to point out to all the people nowadays who are going way over the top with baby showers. A friend just gave one that took hundreds of man-hours to produce and attended one a couple weeks later that rivaled a wedding! C'mon, people!

  5. My favorite thing about baby showers is that I just attended 2 for my daughter who is due in 2 weeks. We are so excited. And like you, one was hosted by my dear friends who have known her since she was a baby. Lots of friends having grand babies these days. Great baby shower tips!

  6. The last time I hosted a baby show was 25 years ago. I am in desperate need of these tips Marci.

  7. I love a nice baby shower and what a lovely thing to do for your neighbour !

  8. Having a long time friend who just happens to be a blogger has to be the best. She is a very lucky lady to have you hosting. I really look forward to seeing all the things you come up with for her. So nice. Congrats to everyone involved. PS your hubs is a cutie.

  9. Sounds like a fab event - I don't think I've ever been to a baby shower! Thanks for sharing with #PoCoLo
