The north side of our front yard is a certified National Wildlife Federation Backyard Habitat. Really! We have a certificate! You can do the same by providing food, water, cover and places for wildlife to raise their young. It is so much fun to see all of the critters that stop by for a visit. I've begun a new series of posts to show you our Garden Guests.

This tiny friend is what we call a Snowbird, one of its common names.
It's actually a Dark-eyed Junco. Here in Arkansas we only see them in Winter.
They like to be under some kind of cover as they feed. Leave the spent foliage in your flower beds until Spring so the Snowbirds feel protected.
My music choice this week is the theme song from Tuck Everlasting.
Warm wishes from our home to yours!

I love Juncos! (I say that about every bird don't I??!! LOLl!) They do like to hang out under my burning bush at feeding time. They are so sweet.
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful, sweet photos! Very refreshing post...thank you :)
ReplyDeleteI love giveaways! Not only the fun of winning but the fun of doing them on my own blog! :)
ReplyDeleteWhen we first moved to our house 10 years ago we saw those little birds and could only call them the little executioner birds because it looked like they had little capes over their heads! They only come around here for a few months a year and love it when they come back.
ReplyDeleteI always love looking at your wildlife and especially bird photos. I love these little fat snowbirds. We get them too but I haven't seen any yet.
