Mug Rugs for the De Stash Challenge and Blog Hop

I've dipped into my fabric stash again.  This time for Mug Rugs.  "What is a Mug Rug?", you might ask.

Think of it as a large quilted coaster for your desk, big enough for a cuppa somethin' and a snack.  I thought they would be great Valentine's Day gifts for my family and also a wonderful way to practice my beginner quilting skills!  Some Mug Rugs can be quite intricate, but mine are pretty basic!  ;-)

The red and black pin wheel is for Handsome Husband.  The fabric was already in my Craft Room and I modified This Pattern from The Enchanting Rose.

I really love the vibrant colors chosen for our daughter!

This one has the quilting running three different directions, beginning with diagonal in the center panel.  I drew the first line using children's chalk.  Maybe someday, my skills will warrant more tools?  ;-)

Again, the fabrics are from my stash, and I found this Basic Pattern from The Curious Quilter and modified the measurements just a bit.  During photo edits, it occurred to me a graphic might look cool.  'Something like this!

I'm almost finished with the mug rug for my sister.  Here's a sneak peek!

Visit again in a few days to see it finished!  Oh, and did I mention I'll be co-hosting a Handmade Card link party beginning January 31?  I hope you can come back for that, too!  ;-)

Every month a group of bloggers are challenged by C'mon Get Crafty to create a new craft or project from their own stash of goodies! Check out some awesome creations you might be able to make from your own stash! #CraftRoomDestashChallenge
