Book Review: Size 12 is Not Fat

by Meg Cabot
Partial Synopsis from Meg Cabot:  HEATHER WELLS ROCKS!  Or, at least, she did. That was before she left the pop-idol life behind after she gained a dress size or two—and lost a boyfriend, a recording contract, and her life savings (when Mom took the money and ran off to Argentina). Now that the glamour and glory days of endless mall appearances are in the past, Heather's perfectly happy with her new size 12 shape (the average for the American woman!) and her new job as an assistant dorm director at one of New York's top colleges. That is, until the dead body of a female student from Heather's residence hall is discovered at the bottom of an elevator shaft.
My Thoughts:  The beginning seemed a bit slow to me, but the story picks up pace as you go along.  I'm glad I stuck with it, really enjoying the end.  The book is pretty light-hearted and perhaps a little too young for me.  This is the first book in a series about Heather Wells.  I don't plan to continue with the series.  It is well written, but not really for me.
What are you reading?

  1. Oh, i haven't read that book in ages! I agree with you about the beginning, it is rather slow going, but once you get into it the story itself isn't a bad read.
I'm reading Whispers In The Sand by Barbara Erskine, it's a historical/modern day mix thriller, set in Egypt.
    This is the blurb:
Recently divorced, Anna decides to cheer herself up by retracing a journey her great grandmother made in the nineteenth century: a Nile cruise from Luxor to the Valley of the Kings.

Anna carries with her on the voyage two mementoes of her great-grandmother Louisa: an ancient Egyptian scent bottle, and the diary of that original Nile cruise, which has lain unread for a hundred years. As she follows in Louisa’s footsteps, Anna discovers in the diary the chilling secret of the scent bottle and is pursued by the same terrifying spectres as her great grandmother.

It is an absolutely fantastic book, i first read it a fortnight ago and am reading it again because it is just so brilliant! It really keeps you gripped :)

  2. I just received Wild that is true story and a movie starring Reese Witherspoon. I am only a few chapters in. I purposely didn't see the movie, I wanted to read book first.
