A partial synopsis from Good Reads: Jan Karon enchants us with the story of the newly retired priest's spur-of-the-moment adventure. For the first time in decades, Father Tim returns to his birthplace, Holly Springs, Mississippi, in response to a mysterious, unsigned note saying simply: Come home.
My thoughts: This is my favorite book of the series so far. Father Tim's childhood home town calls to him and so he goes. We learn much more about his youth, as well as the other members of his close family. Why did his father limp? Where did Peggy come from? What happened to Tommy? All of these questions are answered in this edition. I must admit I needed several tissues, especially when reading about Peggy.
What stories would you write about your childhood?

Aren't these wonderful books?! I just finished "Somewhere Safe With Somebody Good" and it was delightful. I hated to see it end.
ReplyDeleteI've read two of Father Tim series books. Would love to read another one, keep hoping will find another one at our local thrift store where I found first two. Will keep looking or go to library. Is one you talk about in this post a new issue in series? Happy season
