Book Review: Tulipomania

Partial Synopsis from Mike Dash: The Story of the World’s Most Coveted Flower and the Extraordinary Passions It Aroused. No traveler passing through the Netherlands in the autumn of 1636, at the height of the country’s Golden Age, could have failed to notice the hysteria pervading the place. Thousands of people from almost every walk of life were caught up in a literal frenzy of buying and selling tulips.

My Thoughts: Being an avid gardener, I found the book fascinating. If you are not a huge fan of tulips, you might feel this historical documentary is a bit dry. Other than the love of collecting tulips, the main characters of this interesting episode in history have little else in common. Perhaps that's part of my fascination? I would definitely recommend this book to any gardener, especially those who enjoy collections.
