Fairy Garden Update

Creating my little Fairy Garden was so much fun I even wrote a Tutorial for my Fairy House.  It sat on the table of our back patio until our three grandchildren came to visit.  They were sharing OK, but we could tell it was a struggle.  Acting quickly as any cool grandparents would ;-) soon there were three fairy gardens on our back patio. 

Book Review: Fifty Bags that Changed the World

from the Design Museum

A partial synopsis from Bas Bleu:  Fashion may not literally change the world, but these beautifully produced books from London's Design Museum make a strong case for the significance of fashion as a reflection of - and sometimes as an agent for - social and cultural changes.  In Bags you'll find photos of a carpetbag, Army haversack, satchel, and clutch, as well as Queen Elizabeth's "royal but so ordinary" purse and the coveted Birkin. 

My Thoughts:  I purchased this book for a very fabulous family member, but could not resist peeking inside!  ;-)  What a wonderful little book!  I learned all kinds of things about Gladstone's Budget Bag and as well as Vivienne Westwood's bum bag.

Our News This Week...  My little laptop is back from the doctors office.  Poor thing!  She had not one, but two, viruses.  Blech!  Hopefully, the party goes off without a hitch this week.  Please accept my apology for any inconvenience my struggles may have caused last week!  While I love the creative side of blogging, the techie side is still quite a mystery for me!

Book Review: Fifty Hats that Changed the World

A partial synopsis from Bas Bleu:  Fashion may not literally change the world, but these beautifully produced books from London's Design Museum make a strong case for the significance of fashion as a reflection of - and sometimes as an agent for - social and cultural changes.  From a status-proclaiming fourteenth-century Russian gold-and-fur crown to an architectural topper resembling skyscrapers, Hats features colorful photographs of fifty iconic chapeaux - both general styles, such as the Stetson and the cloche, and iconic hats, such as Jackie Kennedy's pink pillbox.

My thoughts:  This little charmer was purchased for a family member who is very fabulous.  No way could I resist reading it before wrapping it!  ;-)  She is going to love this!  It will probably be on the coffee table to share with all her visitors!

Our News This Week...  Work has settled down quite a bit so there has been time for photographs and crafting.  We continue to get lots of rain, so the garden is still water logged.  The only thing being harvested right now is squash and a few tomatoes.
