Tuesdays with a Twist

Our news this week...  The weather has turned colder.  Winter will be here soon.  I love living where we have all four seasons.  Snow is lovely for just a little while, especially in December.  After that though, I am lonely for Spring!  I am so glad you are here to party with us.  There is no limit on links as long as they are family friendly including Etsy shops and other link parties.  Please remember to visit others and leave positive comments!

This red rose was at a park we visited while we were in Colorado.

Travels with Marci and Mr. Peanut

My full time job (besides blogging) has me on the road quite a bit these days, regularly buzzing around eight different counties here in Arkansas.  I am so very blessed to live in a beautiful area.  When something catches my eye, I snap a picture with my phone.  There's really no telling what I might photograph!  If you enjoy this series, you can find more on my blog page titled My Ozarks.

Blogging Then and Now and Fantastic 50 Blog Hop

When I first began blogging, I actually had a plan.  There would be four cornerstones for my writing.  Gardening, Sewing, Recipes, and Crafts.  This little website began with those pages listed at the top.  Blank pages at the time.  My very first post?  Our family's recipe for Sweet Tea.  From there, this crazy thing has evolved into whatever we happen to be doing on this humble piece of earth we like to call a One Acre Farm.   Pages have been added for Books, Herbs and My Ozarks.  They are filled with all kinds of silly shenanigans.

We share our "empty" nest with  five dogs, one cat, six rabbits and fourteen chickens.  Cuckoo, aren't we?  ;-)  Our grandchildren are frequent visitors.

Tuesdays with a Twist #235 Let's Party!

Our news this week...  Handsome Husband just celebrated a birthday.  He seemed really happy with his birthday dinner which included all his favorites.  Steak, loaded mashed pototatoes with green beans, cornbread AND Lemon Meringue Pie that was completely from scratch including the crust!  I found a new recipe for pie crust that was absolutely scrumptious!  How has your week been?  I am so glad you are here to party with us.  There is no limit on links as long as they are family friendly including Etsy shops and other link parties.  Please remember to visit others and leave positive comments!

Tuesdays with a Twist #234

Our news this week...  Coming back to work (besides blogging) after a week of vacation can feel pretty daunting.  My regular job really kept me to the grind.  Whew!  This week is feeling more like a normal week though!  I'd like to remind everyone that this party welcomes any family friendly post including other link parties and Etsy shops.  No limit on links, new or old.

This gorgeous fading pink rose was at a park we visited in Colorado.  I didn't notice if there was a label for it.  I love the all the shades of color as blossoms soften in the warm sunshine.

'Need a Quick Couples Costume?

We have neighbors who throw a BIG Halloween party every year that includes a costume contest.  While Handsome Husband is polite about it, he would really rather not become a completely different character.  Here are three simple and quick couples costumes that have worked for us in the past.

First up, we are TV's Gilligan and Mary Ann.

Are you ready to party? Tuesdays with a Twist

Our news this week...  We were out of state visiting our son this past week.  It was nice to be away for a bit, but now it's nice to be back!  ;-) I'd like to remind everyone that this party welcomes any family friendly post including other link parties and Etsy shops.  No limit on links, new or old.

This is an old photo of our family taken on the very tip of Hawksbill Crag in Arkansas.  It is a gorgeous pristine area and the hike is surprisingly easy for our area.

Book Review: The Thirteenth Tale

by Diane Setterfield

A partial synopsis from Good Reads:  A love letter to reading, a book for the feral reader in all of us, a return to that rich vein of storytelling that our parents loved and that we loved as children. Diane Setterfield will keep you guessing, make you wonder, move you to tears and laughter and, in the end, deposit you breathless yet satisfied back upon the shore of your everyday life.

My thoughts:  I loved this book!  It is the tale of Vida Winter, a renowned and prolific author, who has asked Margaret to write her biography.  Before agreeing to the commission, Margaret searches for clues to Vida's birth and childhood, but no records can be found.  Upon her arrival at the author's country home, Vida promises to give three pieces of information about herself that are publicly documented.  Once Margaret completes that initial research, she chooses to write and is mesmerized by the story of twin girls with blazing red hair and brilliant green eyes.  I think my favorite character is probably John the Dig, but I also loved the Missus.

I was a little sad when this book ended.  What a great guessing game of ghosts and family secrets!  'Definitely reading more from Diane Setterfield!

What have you been reading?

Travels with Marci near Russellville

My full time job (besides blogging) has me on the road quite a bit these days, regularly buzzing around four different counties here in Arkansas.  I am so very blessed to live in a beautiful area.  When something catches my eye, I snap a picture with my phone.  There's really no telling what I might photograph!

This photo is of Arkansas Nuclear One just before sunrise.  The pink and gray skies make the photo a bit eerie.

Where have you been lately?  Did you snap any photos?
