Skills. We all have them, right? Some are for hire.
Today's project is part of a blog hop with these talented ladies:
Here's where my shenanigans begin. This sign was purchased ages ago, I think, from Gordman's. It was once loved and hung proudly, but then the poor thing was tossed into my hot mess of a craft room.
Knowing I want my new look to appear old and raggedy, black paint is swirled with dark brown paint. The above photo is after one coat. It took me three attempts to get the right swish of black and espresso.
My DIY cutting machine cut my stencil I designed.
I combined paints again for the lettering. First my brush was dipped into white and then a tiny bit of yellow. I waited ten minutes between coats, building up the light colors four times.
These crafty skills for hire make me smile. I modeled that silly little broom after a wreath I created and called My New Stick Shift. If you would like to make your own small broom, just click HERE for my tutorial.
I may attach the broom to my sign, but haven't decided yet.
Your sign is really cute, Marci! Sometimes I wish there were really magic spells and potions. I need a few right about now! Lol!
ReplyDeleteFun sign for Halloween! The aged look is perfect. I love the little broom, too.
ReplyDeleteSuper cute sign! I love the broom!
ReplyDeleteWhat a transformation! I love giving signs an update, there's no need to keep buying new is there? When you can just give an old sign a whole new life!
