Travels with Marci at Square Rock

My full time job (besides blogging) has me on the road quite a bit these days, regularly buzzing around eight different counties here in Arkansas.  I am so very blessed to live in a beautiful area.  When something catches my eye, I snap a picture or two with my phone.

Can I just say how much I love this series of posts?  It has me watching for photo ops wherever I go.  This pretty little barn would not have caught my attention if it weren't for the quaint, old church across the highway.

I paused here to have lunch and stretch my legs a bit.  This is on Highway 71 south of Fort Smith.

Maybe this is The Square Rock for which the area is named?  'Not sure.  I googled it, but did not find much historical info!  A search for Cordelia Mayfield told me she lived from 1883 to 1969, but nothing else.  Hopefully, one of my readers can tell us more in the comments!

Take a look at this view from their cemetery.  You can see it was a gorgeous day!  If you enjoy these posts, there are more on my blog page titled  MY OZARKS.

Where have you  been lately?

  1. I find that I spend a lot of time blogging, but I never think of it as a job. But I do think of it as a lot of work sometimes. - Margy

  3. You can find so many 'surprises' when taking a road trip. I love the quaint little church photo. Thanks for linking up and sharing with us at #BloggersPitStop

  4. The square rock looks like one of those hitching rocks. Churches & other community buildings had them so ladies riding in buggies or on horses could get off/out gracefully in their full dresses. But the ones I've seen in the past had steps coming down from them as well.

I don't know anything about this church.
