Party Time! Tuesdays with a Twist

Our News This Week...  I feel like I had a nice breakthrough in physical therapy on Thursday.  My therapist, Brooke, was teasing me about how I fight her on this one particular stretch.  It makes me nervous and I get SUPER tense every time.  Well, Thursday, she tricked me into relaxing and got a nice, deep stretch.  Oh, my goodness!  My hip has felt so much better since then!  Thank you, Brooke!  In family news, we host Thanksgiving, so we are in the midst of cleaning house and getting everything "just right" for our loved ones!  It's such a joy to have everyone here!

My garden in October.  Notice two bird baths are snuggled into the foliage for a bit of privacy.

I've forgotten the name of this lovely plant, but adore the splash of raspberry color it adds to my garden in Fall.

Book Review: The Girl's Still Got It

by Liz Curtis Higgs

The Girl's Still Got It by Liz Curtis Higgs

Partial Synopsis from the Author's Website:  You know Ruth’s story. Now meet her in person. And prepare to be changed.  Walk with Ruth as she travels from Moab to Bethlehem, certain of her calling, yet uncertain of her future. Hold Naomi’s hand and watch love put the pieces of her broken life back together. And hang out with Boaz, their kinsman-redeemer, who blesses both  women and honors God, big time.

My Thoughts:  This is the first book I've read by Liz Curtis Higgs.  No wonder she is a best-selling author!  I love her writing style!  I've read the Book of Ruth and studied it before, but it's never been brought to life quite like this.  There are plenty of time gaps in the Book of Ruth with very little detail about what happened.  While we will never really know, Liz offers some possible options.  I loved her humorous approach to this timeless love story.

Indoor Autumn Vignettes

My 2016 Gourd Harvest was shown in this post right HERE!  Even though only three little packets of seeds were planted, there were plenty for sharing with our family and friends.  Of course I kept some for our Autumn decorating.  Mostly outside, especially the bigger gourds.  Click  HERE to see the outdoor photos.

Today I want to show the ones inside our home.

These little cream colored ones were my favorite this year.  I like both the shape and color.  You might remember this bowl was FREE ;-) and found at Pickin' Time on 59!

I'm not sure if Kati Cat likes the gourds or not.

No matter what's happening around here, she's right in the middle of it.  ;-)

Orange has a way of brightening the simplest of arrangements.

Yellow is fun, too!

'Just one more week of these pretties and then I'll begin decorating for Christmas!

If you are looking for some inspiration, take a look at the link party I am co-hosting called Wrapping Up the Holidays!  It's all about gift wrap, cards, recipes, family traditions and activities.   If you have any holiday posts, we'd love for you to share them!

Are You Ready to Party?! Tuesdays with a Twist

Our News This Week...  We had a great weekend!  Our three grandchildren stayed with us Friday and Saturday nights.  It was such fun!  Saturday morning, photos were taken in hopes of getting one good picture for their parents for Christmas.  Saturday afternoon, we went to a park.  While the boys were playing basketball, the girls were climbing and sliding on the toddler equipment.  Our weather has been perfect for being outdoors!  Handsome Husband captured this picture of the Super Moon.  I think the bit of cloud cover makes the photo somewhat eerie.

Over the Moon for this Frame

Handsome Husband purchased this stunning photograph from Our Friend Jeff.  If you enjoy incredible photography, just click HERE

(Disclosure:  I was not paid for that.  We just really love his work!)

Jeff explained how he set up his camera on a hillside with some kind of timer thingy and left it there thru the night of a blood moon. Somehow thru camera guy genius, this series was snapped.  I love the effect of seeing the eclipse and then the vibrant red color!

The photo had been at our house for quite a while, but somehow never made to a frame shop.  I knew I wanted a black frame with some kind of contrast, but just couldn't make a decision.

This one kept getting in my way.  Working on our kitchen, lots of small appliances are in my craft room and spare bedroom.  When I need the slow cooker, this frame has to be moved to a different spot, then moved back.  It's been in the family for YEEEEEEEARS and held a really sweet Norman Rockwell print.  I love that little bit of gold on the inside.

Light bulb appears above my head!

HEY!  That cool moon photo needs a frame and this one is in the way!  ;-)

Handsome Husband taped off the bit of gold and zapped the rest with black spray paint.  Then we replaced the glass and filled the frame with this incredible photo.

 Perfect!

What's hangin' at your house?

It's Party Time! Tuesdays with a Twist

Our News This Week... My recovery from surgery continues to go well.  In physical therapy, I've been released to Phase 3.  Whew!  It's been a tough road, but we are almost finished.  A gym membership has been purchased and the process of slowly and very carefully getting in shape begins again.  My surgeon still expects weekly physical therapy sessions.  Once fully released, I may begin a series of posts about fitness.  I'm not exactly in my forties twenties anymore, and certainly not an expert, only speaking to what works for me.  Would anyone be interested in a such a fitness series?

The below photo is mine, taken from our balcony at Mount Magazine Lodge.  'Not sure who deserves credit for the quote.

Garden Guest: Bee

The north side of our front yard is a certified  National Wildlife Federation Backyard Habitat.  Really!  We have a certificate!  You can do the same by providing food, water, cover and places for wildlife to raise their young.  It is so much fun to see all of the critters that stop by for a visit.  I have a series of posts to show you our Garden Guests.

If you would like to see more, please buzz over to my Garden Page

Each week I co-host a linky party on Tuesdays, called Tuesdays with a Twist.  Most parties begin with one of my photographs, usually from our garden.

On this particular day, I was out snapping pix of these native asters that bloom into late Fall. Then I noticed something move.

A Bee!  This guy was too busy working to even notice he was on camera.

They are such amazing creatures.  Pollinators are tiny yet so very important to our environment.  You can attract them to your garden by planting natives.  It's imperative to choose plant material throughout your garden to extend bloom times absolutely as long as possible thru the growing seasons.

What's happening in your back yard?

Book Review: Outrageous Love

A Love that Seeks No Reward

by Sheila Walsh

1823384

A partial synopsis from Christian Bookstore:  A dynamic speaker and vocalist, Sheila Walsh has developed a strong following through her appearances on The 700 Club and Women of Faith conferences. Her latest book, Outrageous Love, invites readers to look at the bold choices that God has made to draw us to Him and the lavish ways that He cares for us each day. As we acknowledge and respond to His outrageous love, we enter into a joy that surpasses any trouble the world might present.

My Thoughts:  This is the kind of book I love to read at bedtime.  Sheila's writing style feels like you are sitting across the table from her, sipping coffee and just sharing your thoughts.  This lovely little book sprinkles in Bible verses, poetry and hymns.  It's small and doesn't take too long to read, definitely one I would recommend.

LINKY PARTY!! Tuesdays with a Twist

Our News This Week...  Is it really November?  ;-)  We had a lovely Halloween weekend.  The weather has been unseasonably warm so everyone is outside enjoying it!  Saturday, our neighbors hosted a fun costume party that included prizes for best dressed couple and best dressed individual.  Our Garden Gnome costumes were adorable, but didn't bring home any awards.  ;-)  Last night we passed out all of our candy.  It's always a treat for us to see the children in their costumes!
