Thrift Store Upcycle Challenge & Blog Hop - Fly High

For the July Challenge - create an upcycle project using a thrift store find of $10 or less.  How fun!

My fellow participants are

As you can see, my project begins with a rusty, dusty collection.  The rooster and goose were purchased, but the tractor seat was a gift from my Matriarch Aunt ages ago.  If you like today's project, you will *LOVE* the tractor seat transformation!  ;-)  So, far I've completed three projects with this stuff.

Today, though, we are talking about the Goose, which has actually become not one, but two, makeovers.  'Poor thing has a broken tail.

Feeling a bit guilty, I swiped the wings.  Please don't cry for the goose or call me Stefan.  Remember there are two transformations!  ;-)

What beautiful detail!

Dark hammered bronze was my spray paint color.  I added a few gold details with a paint pen, but they really aren't visible in the photos.

The wooden plank was flipped over from This Project and I've had that ribbon forever.  Ribbon was stapled and glued around the edge creating a frame.  Since the wings are curved, a couple of wine corks were cut in half, glued to the wings, and then they were glued to the wood.

My little project is complete!  Please come back to see the second transformation!

I need a quote to hang beside it, but there are so many good ones, I can't decide!  What is your favorite quote for wings or for flight?

Take a look at all the other participants' posts!  Wow!

  3. What a unique upcyle project, Marci. I love how you used the wings. My favorite quote about flying and wings is "What if I fail? Oh, but my darling, what if you fly?"

  5. Marci, I love your re-purpose of those beautiful wings! It takes a creative eye to find a sorry, old and broken piece and to make something new and beautiful with it! Great upcycle! I'd say you nailed it. Pinned!
