The Magic of March Pillow Cover

The winds are a little warmer, the crocus are blooming and bunnies are nibbling clover.

Today, I'm participating in a Pinterest challenge with these lovelies:

The idea of our challenge is to pause on pinning stuff and actually create something!  What fun!

My pinspiration begins with THIS DARLING CUT FILE!  (It's one of the Friday Freebies from Kelly Lollar Designs.)  Also, I noticed this display of toss pillows at Target and loved the color palette.  To me those golds have a kind of 70's vibe.

How cute is that one with the rabbit?!

First up for this project, we have to sew the cover.

Anytime, I visit a thrift store, I check the bedding aisle for sheets and usually have a nice stash of them.  They are perfect for curtains or toss pillows and so inexpensive.  Here are the ones I'm considering for today's project.  Notice the 70's gold?  Here's a bonus pin for you:  PILLOW COVER TUTORIAL from Noodlehead.  Ummm, yeah.  I just followed her directions for a 16 inch pillow form.  She does such a great job explaining the envelope technique, I'm just skipping ahead to my completed project.

I told you it was a darling cut file, didn't I?!  I love how the bunny seems tucked in the shadows of flowers!  'So cute!  My plan is to complete more pillow covers to create a collection similar to the ones pictured above from Target.

Now let's see which pin everyone else completed!

  1. What a great cushion cover Marci, I LOVE that fabric, what a wonderful find. And the bunny is super cute. It's modern, it's vintage, modern with a vintage feel, vintage with a modern feel.... whatever it is I love it!

  3. I love this pillow! I don't think about making pillows often, but I have a fixation for them, so that makes a lot of sense!

  4. Oh! I am jealous of your stash of sheets! That is a great idea for fabric. At thrift stores, I usually look for crocheted or knit blankets and doilies, but never thought to look for sheets! Really cute bunny pillow.
