Book Review: The Ravenmaster

My Life with The Ravens at the Tower of London

by Christopher Skaife
Yeoman Warder of
Her Majesty's Royal Palace and Fortress the Tower of London

Partial synopsis from Bas Bleu Christopher Skaife—the dutiful, affable, and unfailingly charming Yeoman Warder of Her Majesty's Royal Palace and Fortress the Tower of London—has served the queen as Ravenmaster since 2011. In this delightful memoir, Skaife offers a behind-the-scenes account of his life looking after the ravens who live (as he does) in the iconic British monument.

My Thoughts:  Being a bird lover, I purchased this book for myself for Christmas.  It's a fascinating look inside the daily chores and duties of someone who lives inside the Tower of London.  The author speaks mostly about all the shenanigans of the sometimes mischievous resident ravens.  There is a list of the top ten most frequently asked questions from tourists along with snippets of his life and career that led him to his most interesting job, The Ravenmaster.  I definitely recommend this charming book.

What have you been reading?
