You may or may not remember THIS POST where I made some simple mug rugs for my husband and daughter to practice my beginner quilting skills using fabric from my stash.
At the end of the post, a sneak peek was offered for my sister's mug rug and everyone was invited back to see it in just a couple of days.
That was in February! {hangs head in shame} Eesh! Better late than never, right? Right!
Please remember I am a beginner. This project could have been a whole lot tidier. I've used this free owl pattern before for THESE GIFTS and
THIS PROJECT for me! The owl pattern directions were followed just like for the toys but instead of stuffing it, a layer of quilt batting was placed in the middle.
I quilted around each of the features and then a little on the wings.
I dreamed about binding the edge, but all those curves intimidated me, so I just did a zig zag and trim instead.
That little owl pattern is the perfect size for a mug rug! It's certainly not perfect, but was definitely sewn with love. My sister raves about how it makes her smile!
Every month a group of bloggers are challenged by C'mon Get Crafty to create a new craft or project from their own stash of goodies! Everyone is allowed a $10 allowance for necessities to complete their project, but the bulk of it must be created from their own stash of goodies. Check out some awesome creations you might be able to make from your own stash! #CraftRoomDestashChallenge
