It looks like a red-tail hawk. They span all across the country. I had one last evening perched on the roof of my garden shed patiently watching my chickens in their enclosed pen. If he'd had a pair of wire cutters he might've gotten in. :)

Yes, we have red tail hawks around our neck of the woods, and I love seeing them on patrol over the hayfields. Their eyesight must be just amazing!
