Today, I'm showing you a project our cute little grand daughters designed!
When we attended the Fin & Feather Fall Festival (say that three times fast) we noticed a family wearing beautiful skirts. I'm guessing the group was a grandmother, her two daughters and five granddaughters. It looked like maybe the granddaughters had attended a sewing class, as their skirts were the same pattern, but different fabrics. My little grand ones wanted something similar. Back at my house, they chose fabric from my stash and I got busy. If you'd like to see the free tutorial I used, just click HERE!

Four Year Old fabric choices. This time, I used contrasting thread for the top stitching. Can you see it?
The only item I needed to purchase was waistband elastic! I love how this monthly challenge is getting me in the habit of frequently visiting my stash! (There's still a risk of avalanche in there, though!) ;-)
Every month a group of bloggers are challenged by C'mon Get Crafty to create a new craft or project from their own stash of goodies! Check out some awesome creations you might be able to make from your own stash! #CraftRoomDestashChallenge

I used to sew swirl skirts for my girls all time. Love this type of skirt as it's pretty easy to sew and girls love it.
ReplyDeleteThe skirt is so cute and looks very easy to make. I bet she is so thrilled to have a skirt like she saw at the festival.
ReplyDeleteHi Marci,
ReplyDeleteI have always loved the tiered skirts, so I can see why your grands liked them. I do a bit of sewing here and there, but I've also gotten rusty. We Square dancers wore them too. They called them "prairie skirts."
I wish I had skills to sew things like this!
ReplyDeleteThey are lovely and I love their fabric choices ;-) I made myself a gatherd white skirt once and added a band of silver sequins at the lowest gathering.
ReplyDeleteLove making skirts like this for my granddaughter. Love your choice of colors. Found you on Blogging Grandmothers Link Party.
ReplyDeleteTwo darling skirts, Marci. I have no doubts they'll be well loved and worn, especially given the two girls chose their own fabric. Thanks for the link back.
ReplyDeleteSorry I've taken so long to comment - life's been hectic. Happy New Year!
Featured today, Marci.
