This month, I am hoping to lower my pile of fabric scraps.  Have you ever seen such a mess?

My crazy plan is to sew these CUTE covers for small packages of tissue.  I think they would be great in the girls' backpacks and desks as they head back to school.  'Not sure if our boys will like them, but wouldn't they be great for teacher gifts?!  It seems like there are lots of sniffles and sneezes at the beginning of the school year.  It's nice to have a pack of tissue nearby!

There are so many options for making these pretty little pocket packs.  You could use up to five different fabrics for more of a patchwork look or just use one.  It all depends on your preferences and your stash!  ;-)

For some of these, I used wide ribbon on the shorter side instead of fabric.  Total bonus!  I got to lower the ribbon stash, too!  Woot woot!

I didn't use elastic on all of them, but really like the ones that have it.  Here's how they look in the back.  Oh, and can we talk for just a sec about that Hello Kitty fabric?

I really should have been more mindful about the pattern placement.  Only one of these covers say "Hello, Kitty!"  The other two say, "Where's the Kitty?"  Live and learn, right?  Another lesson...  It's easier to photograph these without the tissues in them.  The tissue doesn't always want to pose nicely.

Here are a couple of covers that are done in school colors.  To me, this is where the ribbon seemed most effective.  I followed the tutorial, except pinned the ribbon closer to the center so that it didn't get caught in the end seam.

The orange and black is for a local high school, but it would be perfect for Halloween, too!
