A partial synopsis from Bas Bleu: Fashion may not literally change the world, but these beautifully produced books from London's Design Museum make a strong case for the significance of fashion as a reflection of - and sometimes as an agent for - social and cultural changes. From a status-proclaiming fourteenth-century Russian gold-and-fur crown to an architectural topper resembling skyscrapers, Hats features colorful photographs of fifty iconic chapeaux - both general styles, such as the Stetson and the cloche, and iconic hats, such as Jackie Kennedy's pink pillbox.
My thoughts: This little charmer was purchased for a family member who is very fabulous. No way could I resist reading it before wrapping it! ;-) She is going to love this! It will probably be on the coffee table to share with all her visitors!
