Fitness after 50. Find a Positive Snowball

This is my new series about fitness.  I am certainly no expert.  Posts will be about what's working for me.  There will definitely be running plans, flexibility, and basic weight lifting.  You can also expect nutrition ideas, recipes, and, well, probably lots maybe a little bit of whining.  ;-)  I hope I have the courage to tell you about the failures.

If you'd like to read the premise for all of this, take a look at these previous posts.

Positive Snowball

Today, I'm sharing positivity from my co-worker, Jay Stewart.  He is such a good person and a great dad.  He challenged himself to do push ups every day for a month.  He began with 40 push ups.  His goal is to add 1 push up each day.  Jay posts videos each day on FB of himself completing that day's challenge.  It has been such an inspiration for me!

Here's Jay:

Day 9 push-up challenge: 49. 25 push-ups.
"There's an evil voice lying to your soul saying you CAN'T do great things."
That's a line from our Pastor at this mornings service and I couldn't wait to share it!

I want you all to know, this whole idea spawned from my wife's coworker, Brian. He's been doing push-ups for a while the way I am, and he's up to high 70's if not 80 by now.
Knowing he was doing this inspired me. Maggi be sure to share with Brian how his action to be more fit and be better overall motivated me, which is hopefully motivating more people who see the post.
God does some great things. What if he's asking you to do one great thing today that might inspire someone else to do something great, and then it becomes a snowball effect.
Let's be a positive snowball!

I love that last sentence.  Let's be a positive snowball!  Being close to someone like Jay definitely helps me with my challenge of getting fit!

  3. I can relate to the challenges associated with using a stairclimber. I have tried it in my gym and it can be quite a workout! I used to exercise more than I do now so your post has motivated me to hit my fitness room and hop on the stairclimber instead my of usual treadmill. Thank you for sharing Fitness after 50. Find a Positive Snowball with us at the Healthy Happy Green and Natural Party Blog Hop. I'm pinning and sharing.
