If you have little ones in your life, you know how sticky life can get. Here’s a burp cloth that makes clean up a little cuter.
Oh, yeah! It’s something to be happy about!
Calico scraps measuring 4 inches by 24 inches
A small scrap of denim
Thread that matches or contrasts the calico and the burp cloth
Begin with a Custom Dyed Burp Cloth. For this particular project, I am using Rit dye color Petal Pink. The next photo shows Petal Pink, and Wine dyed burp cloths along with one that is still white.
I’m just using up scraps. I had a couple of calico pieces measuring 4 inches by 12 inches.
I sewed them into one long strip, folded the strip in half with right sides facing and sewed the long side forming a long tube of fabric.
Turn the tube right side out.
I apologize. For some reason, I skipped some photos. ?? Have you ever had a day like that?
Once the tube is right side out. Press it flat with the seam as centered as possible. Using the longest stitch on your machine sew down the center of the long tube. Tie off one end of the threads. Gently tug on the bobbin thread at the other end to gather the fabric until the calico is the same width as the cloth diaper. Stitch in place.
Choose an applique’ pattern that suits your fancy. I went with a simple bird from Fave Crafts .
I added his eye and his wing.
Then stitched him in place.
